To welcome the Bangla New Year 1423, Bangladesh High Commission Ottawa is organizing a Boishakhi Mela on 24 April 2016 at the Richlieu Vanier Community Centre located at 300 Des Peres-Blances Avenue, Ottawa ON K1L 7L5. The Mela will open at 2.00pm and continue up to 8.00pm. Detail of the programme is as follows:
2.00pm: Inauguration of the Boishakhi Mela
2.15-3.00: Recitation of self-composed poems by poets from Ottawa
3.00-3.45: Poetry recitals from famous peots of Bangla literature
4.00pm: Prize distribution among winners of Art Competition organized on the National Children’s' Day 2016
4.15pm - 5.00pm: Performance by children
5.00 - 7.45pm: Cultural performance by artists of Ottawa
8.00pm: Closing of the Mela.
All artists (singers, dancers, poetry recites) are welcome to perform on musical track as well.

In observance of the 96th birth anniversary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, Bangladesh High Commission is going to organize Children’s Painting and Essay Competition in Toronto and Ottawa. Detail of the subject matter, date, time and venue are as follows:

Age: Open to all children capable of writing essays. Children from all across Canada are welcome to send in hand written/composed essays through postal mails to the Bangladesh High Commission before 16 March, 2016.
Applicant for Machine Readable Passport (MRP) and Renewal of Machine Readable Passport needs to come in person to the High Commission to submit the application, fingerprint, digital signature & photograph and must make a prior appointment before approaching the High Commission. After choosing/submitting the appointment date and time applicant will receive a conformation email which needed to show at the front desk on the scheduled appointment date.
